Sedgewood Commons is a Specialized Memory Support Community offering individualized care for those living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Each member of our dedicated team has specialized education and training, and we promote consistent relationships with staff and regular routines, which is very important to those with dementia. Sedgewood Commons is an AHCA Bronze Quality Award winner and is VA contracted!

Jolene McLean
AdministratorJolene spent much of her childhood volunteering in a nursing facility and developing a passion for long-term care very early on. She has worked several different positions in healthcare, including four years as the Director of Admissions and Marketing for the company in Connecticut and Maine. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 2013 and received her Graduate Certification in Long-Term HealthCare Administration from UConn in 2015. She has most recently been the Administrator for an affiliated center in New Hampshire before relocating back to Southern Maine to be closer to family. In her free time, Jolene enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their new baby boy.
Daniel Stadler, MD, CMD
Medical DirectorPrior to coming to Maine, Dr. Stadler was the Director of Geriatrics at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School Of Medicine. Over the years, he has worked clinically in a variety of areas, serving as the Medical Director of four Skilled Nursing Facilities, managing a panel of geriatric primary care patients and running a consultative clinic for patients struggling with Dementia. Dr. Stadler received his MD from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in 1998 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 2001. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine and a Certified Medical Director. He has a long standing interest in the care of the frail adult.
Elise Gould
Senior Admissions DirectorElise has been working in nursing facilities in Southern Maine for nearly 15 years. She started her career as an assistant to the administrator and after a couple of years, she knew she had found the industry for her. She grew her knowledge base by promoting to the admissions department and quickly found her niche. Elise has worked in independent living, long-term care and skilled nursing communities and enjoys the large customer base of families, care managers, facility staff, and most importantly: the patients. Elise is excited to again be working with the dementia population here at Sedgewood Commons. In her free time, Elise loves to travel with her children, go to concerts, ride roller coasters (she is a self-proclaimed Disney adult) and snuggle with her cats.
Michael Kane
Director of RehabilitationMichael has been a Physical Therapist since 1993, graduating from University of New England. He has been specializing in geriatric physical therapy since 1995 in long term care and home health settings. Michael has been exclusively working with memory impaired clients since 2010 here at Sedgewood Commons.

Dear Joyce,
Dad's visit with his newest great grandchild was very successful. Dad always did love wee babes....a man far ahead of his time. While I don't think he understood the exact connection, he loved touching, looking at, and cooing at our sweet little William. And now, one day, I can share with Will the pictures of him with his wonderful great grandpa, and know that they were together once. I am so thankful that dad is in a place that also cares for the families...this meant so very much to me. And please pass on my gratitude to anyone who helped to make this happen.

Benefiting both staff and residents.
I visit Sedgewood Commons almost every day and have had ample opportunity to observe the interactions between the residents and caregivers. The caregivers at Sedgewood put a lot of effort into understanding the many idiosyncrasies of each resident and strive to give each one of them as much independence as can be safely allowed. All this is accomplished while striving to balance attentive care with a sense of humor, which benefits both staff and residents.

I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I was to receive reassurance that my mother was going to be okay. As a family, we try to understand the complications of advanced dementia and deal with the effects as best we can. But honestly, it's overwhelming at times.
The choices that are made at Sedgewood have lasting effects well outside the walls of the facility! It is in this reality, and the continued positive examples set by staff members, that my family finds comfort and peace of mind in knowing our mother is being well cared for.
